Construction Tools PDF Print E-mail

The first buildings made by man were inevitably simple structures like huts, shelters or tents that provide comfort in inclement weather conditions and made using simple tools that were readily available. Tools speed up the construction process and provide a more uniform result than doing things completely by hand alone.

In today's modern construction industry, advanced technology and modern machines are used to build large structures such as high-rise buildings. The earlier construction machines were powered by steam which greatly improved the construction process. Later and more modern machines such as cranes, bulldozers and giant excavators are now powered by diesel fuel or by electricity. They are heavy construction tools.

Other tools are much simpler to use such as those common forks, shovels, spades, buckets, trowels, levels, plumb bobs, brick lines and chalk lines. These simple hand tools can be classified as manual tools or power tools. Power tools are further divided into air tools (powered by compressed air), gas-powered tools (diesel or gasoline use) and electric tools (powered by battery or cordless tools and those that need an outlet) which make heavy construction jobs much easier, faster and lighter. Most hand tools can be obtained in a hardware store or construction specialty store. Alternatively, the hardware section of most large supermarkets and hypermarkets also carry them.
